Perforated Roller Shutter Door FAQ
Answers to the questions we are asked most about perforated roller shutters, pricing, installation, motors and repairs.
What is a perforated roller shutter door?
A perforated roller shutter door is a steel or aluminium roller door whose slats are punched with a pattern of small holes. When closed it secures the opening like a normal roller shutter, but the perforations let light, air and visibility through, so shops can display stock after hours and warehouses stay ventilated.
Do you install perforated roller shutters across Gauteng?
Yes. We supply and install perforated roller shutter doors throughout Gauteng, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Sandton, the East Rand, West Rand and the Vaal, as well as surrounding areas such as Hartbeespoort, Brits, Rustenburg, eMalahleni and Sasolburg.
Are perforated roller shutters as secure as solid shutters?
For most applications, yes. The perforations are small, and the door uses the same steel or aluminium slats, guide channels and locking system as a solid door. For high-risk sites we can specify heavier gauge slats, a reinforced bottom rail, central or floor locks and motorisation with battery backup.
Can perforated roller shutter doors be motorised?
Yes. Almost any perforated roller shutter can be fitted with an electric motor, remote controls, wall switches and safety features. Existing manual doors can usually be converted to motorised operation as well.
How much does a perforated roller shutter door cost?
Price depends on the width and height of the opening, the slat type and gauge, the finish (galvanised or powder-coated) and whether the door is manual or motorised. Use our quote form or WhatsApp us your sizes and photos for an accurate, obligation-free quote.
Do you repair and service existing roller shutters?
Yes. We repair damaged slats, springs, guides, bottom rails, locks and motors on perforated and solid roller shutter doors of most makes, and we offer planned maintenance for commercial and industrial clients. See repairs and maintenance.
How long does it take to install a perforated roller shutter?
Once the door has been manufactured, most single doors are installed in a day or less. Larger industrial doors and multi-door projects take longer; we will give you a timeline with your quote.
What information do you need for a quote?
The approximate width and height of the opening, where the door will be installed, whether you want manual or motorised operation, your preferred finish, and photos of the opening if possible. Our online quote form lets you upload photos.
Do I need a lintel or bulkhead above the opening?
The roller shutter barrel and hood need space above or in front of the opening and a solid surface to fix to. We check this during the site measure and can supply steel framing where needed.
Can perforated shutters be powder-coated?
Yes. Slats, guides, bottom rails and hood covers can be powder-coated in a range of colours.
Do perforated roller shutters let in insects?
Small insects can pass through perforations. If this is a concern, a fly screen can be fitted behind the opening, or micro-perforated slats can be used.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Workmanship and product guarantees are confirmed in writing with your quote, based on the door type and components selected.
